The Graduate School of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music was founded in December 2003. It is a full-time institution of higher learning which provides Master’s and Doctor’s programs and is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal Government.

The school now offers five programs leading to the degree of Master of Music: Musicology, Ethnomusicology, Music Education, Vocal Music and Instrumental Music. In addition, the school has a Doctoral program in Musicology.

The school has a strong faculty of over 60 full-time professors and associate professors, including 5 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences or Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 national “Thousand Talents Plan” scholar, 3 winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, and 1 winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.
